Promoting and Advocating for the Broadcasters of Nevada, While Serving the Public

Nevada Broadcasters Association

Our Mission:

The Nevada Broadcasters Foundation (NVBF) and the Tony & Linda Bonnici Broadcasting Scholarship Fund finds the very best broadcasting and journalism students in Nevada and makes it easier for them to pursue their dreams. The Foundation awards up to full tuition scholarships to the next generation of Nevada’s Broadcasters. This scholarship is unique in that it is a scholarship by broadcasters for broadcasters. In the past eight years, 145 scholarships have been awarded to talented and dedicated students of broadcasting attending Nevada’s Colleges or Universities. From on-air or on the streets, to sales, digital or engineering, these scholarships encourage students with great passion to enter broadcasting as a career and to seek the highest quality of education in the field.

A message from the Executive Director:

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the look on a students face after they just heard the words “you’ve been awarded a scholarship”.  It instantly puts into perspective why we do what we do!  Now in its eighth year of awarding tuition funding, I am proud to boast that the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation has awarded 145 scholarships through the Tony and Linda Bonnici Broadcasting Scholarship Fund.  This year alone, thirty two (32) students stood out among the rest and earned the title of an NVBF Scholar.

This year, the Foundation will pay an approximate $228,000.00 in tuition funding.  Keeping in mind that the NVBF does not pay any salaries, 100% of all income funds student education. With no government grants allowed, all revenues are generated by fundraising and donations.

It goes without saying that the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation’s Tony and Linda Bonnici Broadcasting Scholarship Fund could not exist if not for the selfless efforts made by our Board of Directors and volunteers, along with the continuous support from Nevada’s Radio and Television station community. I thank you all for your assistance as we continue to “Pave The Way for Future Broadcasters”.

Happy to serve

A message from the President:

Tony & I are so very proud of the Broadcast Scholarship process.  We vet the students through their applications and the one on one meetings we have with each qualified applicant.  Getting to know them in such a short time gives us an opportunity to measure their passion, interest and ability to get through the studies needed to become good broadcasters.  After awarding the scholarships each year, we advise them about class selection and help secure internships.  We ask the students to communicate with us each semester to be sure they are on track but also encourage them to text, email or call us with any questions or concerns.
We have awarded 145 tuition only scholarships thus far, producing some excellent graduates from UNR and UNLV!  All with new ideas about the industry and ways that they interact with news and broadcast stations.  There are such a large number of scholarship graduates working in and around the Broadcasting business and that makes us very hopeful that there will be a very bright future for Radio, Television and Digital products.
We continue to ask for your support in having these recipients as interns and employees helping to re-infuse our business and keep it relevant for now and the future.

Linda Bonnici
